Intermediate Resource
An intermediate care facility is a living environment tailored to the needs of individuals who are losing their independence or who require assistance or support with daily activities.
Each intermediate care facility is bound by an agreement with a public institution within the health and social services network, which is responsible for the quality of the services provided there.
Who is this type of housing intended for?
People who are losing their independence, can no longer remain at home, but do not require as much intensive care as that provided by CHSLDs.
The CIUSSS provides residents with all professional services required under the clinical intervention plan, other than the housing, support, and assistance services provided directly by the intermediate care facility.
Their staff visit to provide:
- Social services
- Nursing care
- Physical rehabilitation services (physical therapy, occupational therapy, kinesiology, etc.)
- Nutrition services
Intermediate Resource provide the following services
- Housing
- Personal hygiene assistance (e.g., washing, bathing, shampooing)
- Meals and snacks
- Assistive care (e.g., help with mobility, assistance with getting in and out of bed)
- Round-the-clock supervision
- Laundry and linen service
- Housekeeping
- Recreational activities (e.g., board games, movies, library)
